In Bollywood, there is no dearth of big budget movies that bombed at the box office. Some of these films failed to do good business in spite of having popular star cast. Here is a list of 10 big budget Bollywood movies, which flopped miserably at the box office:

1. Saawariya (2007)

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, ‘Saawariya’ was the debut movie of both Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. The film’s production cost was 40 crore and it earned only 36 crore.

2Love Story 2050 (2008)

Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra starrer “Love Story 2050” was a science fiction love story. It had a budget of Rs 60 crore and made an earning only around 25 crore.

3. Ra One (2011)

The film presented Shah Rukh Khan as a superhero, Kareena Kapoor as his love interest and Arjun Rampal as the villain. It was created at a huge budget of Rs 130 crore but failed to retain the cost as it earned Rs 114 crore at the box office.

4Guzaarish (2010)

 Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer ‘Guzaarish’ was made at a cost of Rs 50 crore. But the film only collected Rs 29 crore.

5Bombay Velvet (2015)

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, “Bombay Velvet” featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar in lead roles. The film was expected to do good box office business, considering the star cast and promotions, but it turned out to be one of the biggest flops of all times. The Rs 120 crore movie died away with a box office collection of just Rs 31 crore.

6. Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag (2007)

This remake of the all-time hit ‘Sholay’ was directed by Ram Gopal Verma. It had a huge star cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Mohanlal, Sushmita Sen, etc. Aag is one of the biggest flops of Bollywood.

7Kites (2010)

Kites which was directed by Anurag Basu, featured Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori in lead roles. The production cost of this film was Rs 60 crore but it collected only Rs 49 crore.

8. Raavan (2010)

Mani Ratnam was supposed to make a comeback with this mega project starring Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai. The 100-crore film lost more than 50% at the box office.

9. Blue (2009)

‘Blue’ had Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Lara Dutta and Zayad Khan in the lead role. Made with a whopping budget of Rs 100 crore, this film failed miserably at the box office.

10. Asoka (2001)

This Shah Rukh Khan starrer was made at a budget of Rs 12.5 crore, which was huge at that time. This Santosh Sivan directed film’s net collection was just Rs 1 crore.
