Whether it is for stories, songs or even the style sense of film stars, the TV industry often looks to Bollywood for inspiration. In what seems to be the newest such trend, a large number of popular names on the small screen are now turn singers. Check out the list of small screen stars who crooned melodiously:
1. Hina Khan
Hina Khan, who shot to fame with her lead character Ashkara in ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, is currently seen in a stunt-based reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. Everyone knows about her acting skills, but very few people knows that she is a very good singer too. Yes, the actress, who loves to sing as much as she loves acting, sang Vande Mataram for the show ‘Bhabhi Tera Devar Deewana’ on News 18.
2. Manasi Parekh
Manasi Parekh Gohil rose to fame with Star Plus’ popular show Gulaal. She has trained in classical music under the tutelage of Shrimati Madhubala Chawla and Shri Shrikant Waiekar. She also learnt Folk music from Shri Purushottam Upadhyay. She is married to singer Parthiv Gohil in 2008. Manasi has been a part of the Indian Television Industry ever since she was in college.
3. Neha Marda
Neha Marda who came into limelight for playing the role of Gehna in the popular show ‘Balika Vadhu’ show her singing talent on ‘Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa 8′. Not many are aware about her brilliant singing skills, she was even part of a singing reality show ‘Star Ya Rockstar’ featuring Kapil Sharma, Manasi Parekh and many more with her as contestants. She is very much interested in acting as well as dancing. Neha has also won 3 consecutive Boogie Woogie Dancing competition, when she was teenager.
4. Kapil Sharma
Comedian turn actor Kapil Sharma who is currently seen in “The Kapil Sharma show” has some more hidden talent. Kapil is not only a comedian but also a singer, and he can give some tough competition to many of our auto-tuned playback singers. Kapil is fond of singing and this is also why we often hear him sing on his show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. He was a wild card contestant on Zee TV’s reality show ‘Star Ya Rockstar’ in 2011.
In 2015, Kapil also got an opportunity to sing with playback singer Atif Aslam on his show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’. Their jugalbandi was outstanding.
5. Suyyash Rai
TV actor Suyyash Rai make his debut as a singer with a single titled Khushnuma. The video of song Khushnuma featured Suyyash Rai and his wife Kishwer Merchant. The song is indeed beautifully shot and Suyyash’s voice is heart rendering. The surprise element of the song is to find Kishwer lend her voice to the number.
6. Devoleena Bhattacharjee
Very popular Gopi Bahu from Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Devoleena Bhattacharjee debut as a singer on song ‘Hey Gopal Krishna Karu Aarti Teri’ on the eve of Janmashtami. Devoleena, who is famous for the role of Krishna Bhakt Gopi Bahu also turned producer for the song.
As sharing the experience with us, she says, “Exprience is really good.. I feel every one sings.. its been few hours I have launched my song and am showerd by posetive feedbacks.. it makes me feel soo blessed. he revealed, “As a singer I dont wana limit myself.. l want to grow.. I will put my best effort. I feel singing is the purest form of art.. and my songs brings out the real me.”
7. Sachin Pilgaonkar
Sachin Pilgaonkar has acted in a substantial number of Marathi, Hindi and Bhojpuri films. He has produced and directed some successful comedy shows on Indian television. Sachin is also a talented singer and he will be singing with the kids on Zee Yuva’s Sargam. This is a kids special episode and will feature many Sachin hits along with kids.
8. Chhavi Mittal
Chhavi Mittal, who is best known for her role as Disha in “Tumhari Disha” started her career as a singer at the age of 7. She used to sing in Doordarshan’s show. Later, she shifted to modelling and anchoring. After that, she started her acting career with Zee TV’s show ‘Tumhari Disha’. She has also worked in many popular serials like ‘Teen Bahuraaniyaan’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Naaginn’, ‘Ek Chhutki Asmaan’ and many more.
9. Vikkas Bhalla
Actor Vikkas Bhalla is trained in Hindustani classical music from Allahabad University, under Pandit Jialal Vasant. Alongside his acting career, Bhalla also pursued his career in singing and launched an album named Dhuan, Awaara and Mehak Teri. His chart buster track “Hai Dhuan” from his debut album “Dhuan” got wide acceptance and made him popular and prominent singer.
Bhalla came into prominence for being the playback voice for the super hit song Po Po featuring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgun & Sanjay Dutt from the blockbuster 2012 movie “Son Of Sardar”.
10. Ragini Khanna
Ragini Khanna started her acting career with Imagine TV’s daily soap ‘Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi’. Ragini has trained in classical music, Ghazals and loves old Hindi film songs. Music is in Ragini’s blood, what with her late maternal grandmother Nirmala Devi being a renowned Thumri singer. She also participated in singing reality show for TV celebrities – ‘Star Ya Rockstar’.
