First Look: Deepika Padukone reveals her ‘ROYAL’ avatar as Rani Padmavati, see photos

Actress Deepika Padukone delighted everyone this morning by sharing the first look of her character Rani Padmini in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited film “Padmavati”.

Deepika’s first look as Rani Padmavati is surely a perfect sync with the commencement of the auspicious festival of Navratras. We have seen her playing a queen earlier as well, in Bajirao Mastani for instance, but there is an edge to her in Padmavati.

The Mastani of Bollywood star took to Twitter and shared the first look of herself from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’.

The makers came up with the look and she posted it on her social media handles, captioning it in Hindi, which says, “On the auspicious occasion of Navratras, meet Queen padmavati Devi.”

Two posters of the upcoming film were released and both show Deepika wearing a red royal dress and heavy Rajasthani jewelry. One of them shows a group of women in veils standing behind Deepika even as the star stands with folded hands but with a royally confident attitude. It is hard to miss Deepika’s unibrow too.

The second poster shows Deepika as Padmavati, standing tall inside what looks like a temple.

Deepika essays the titular role of Rani Padmavati while Ranveer plays Alauddin Khilji. Shahid plays Padmavati’s husband, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh in the film. Padmavati is an upcoming Indian period drama film jointly produced by Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Padmavati marks Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s third collaboration with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali after Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

Padmavati is scheduled to release in theatres on December 1.
