12 Television Stars Who Refused Doing These Bollywood Films

Television is credited for serving as a launch pad for some of the biggest actors that Bollywood boasts of. Most TV Celebs dream to enter in Bollywood they also works hard for this. But there are some small screen stars who do not want to go to the movies or don’t like the character they have offered. Take a look at some TV stars who refused Bollywood films offers:

1.Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur

Mrunal Thakur started her career with the hit television show ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ and later appeared on a dance reality show ‘Nach Baliye’ with ex Sharad Tripathi. She’s currently waiting for the release of her Hollywood debut, ‘Love Soniya’. 

Mrunal has been earlier considered as the female lead in Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Thugs of Hindostan” but she turned it down. Aditya Chopra was so keen to cast her that he offered her a three-film deal which would hamper her international career so she refuse the offer. What’s more Mrunal had even auditioned for Sultan opposite Salman Khan but that didn’t pan out well.

2. Karan Tacker

Karan Tacker

Karan Tacker is one of the most well-known actors on Indian television. Karan was offered the Dharma production upcoming film ‘Student of the Year 2’, in which he was offered negative role. But Karan had refused this role. He says, “ [Acting in] films is definitely what I am looking at doing next. But I can’t talk about the film right now.”

3. Surbhi Chandna

Surbhi Chandna who is currently playing the character of Annika in the popular show ‘Ishqbaaaz’, was last seen in the film ‘Bobby Jasoos’ with Vidya Balan. She  opted to feature in a TV show rather than a Bollywood movie. She feels “TV has a bigger reach than films”. She said: “I had offers from Bollywood specifically to star in various movies”.

“TV is the next big thing. It has a bigger reach than films because of which I chose to continue my stint on television and not venture into films,” Surbhi said in a statement.

4. Aishwarya Sakhuja

Aishwarya Sakhuja

Small screen actress Aishwarya Sakhuja entered the industry with big dreams and Bollywood was her first goal. She had initially auditioned for Shah Rukh Khan starrer hit film ‘Chak De India’ in which she faced rejection. TV actors are slowly drifting towards Bollywood, but it is not the case with Aishwarya. She is comfortable doing television and is not looking forward to coming in films anytime soon.

5. Drashti Dhami

 Drashti Dhami

Drashti Dhami made it big on television with ‘Geet – Hui Sabse Parayi’, ‘Dill Mill Gayye’ , ‘Madhubala’ and ‘Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil’, has been considered for B-Town projects. Drashti had offered a role in Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham 2′ but being busy in her show ‘Madhubala’ she turned it down. The actress claims that she is happy doing her prime time show the gorgeous girl turn down the offer without giving a serious thinking to it. 

6. Mohit Raina

Mohit Raina

Creature 3D makers approached Mahadev fame Mohit Raina to play the role opposite Bipasha Basu, but due to his onscreen persona of  Mahadev he was not signed for the film. Makers felt that as he plays Shiva the ultimate god in tele-series Mahadev, his personality will be too strong in front of the Creature. Finally makers roped in Pakistani actor Imraan abbas to play the role.

7. Adaa Khan

Adaa Khan

After her successful stint with Naagin she got movie offers which she ultimately rejected. India Forums quoted her saying, “I have been getting quite a lot of film offers, but I was not prepared to enter such a big industry. Whenever I will be prepared, I will definitely do it.”

8. Jay Soni

Jay Soni

Jay who is known for his boy-next-door look has done popular shows like ‘Sasural Genda Phool’ and ‘Sanskaar – Dharohar Apnon Ki’ also got offers of 2-3 films. Out of which, there was an offer of Yash Raj Films in 2010, but Jai refused the offer, as he wants to keep his focus on TV right now. 

 He was quoted by TOI saying “I wasn’t too happy with what I was being offered. I don’t have a problem doing a cameo as long as my scenes are mine and I’m not expected to share the screen space with other actors.” He rejected the offer to focus on his TV show.

9. Kapil Sharma

Kapil Sharma

The comedian has already made his Bollywood debut with ‘Kis Kis Ko Pyaar Karun’ but politely rejected a role in the Yash Raj banner film ‘Bank Chor’. Kapil Sharma’s film ‘Firangi’ is all set to release on November 10.

10. Preetika Rao

Preetika Rao

Actress Amrita Rao’s sister Preetika Rao has done some films in South, but her mind is on TV itself. Rao made her television debut with Beintehaa is enjoying her popularity on TV. she had to turn down the offer to star as the lead in “Aashiqui 2″, which ultimately made a star of actor Shraddha Kapoor.

11. Shaheer Sheikh 

Shaheer Sheikh 

‘Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi’ star Shaheer Sheikh who has made a name for himself on TV in India and Indonesia believes that he would not trade his TV stardom for a small role in films. In an interview he was quoted saying, I want to do good work. “I have been offered films as well but it’s better to do good television shows rather than a small role in a film.

12. Kritika Nair 

Kritika Nair 

Playing the leading lady Bahubali’s TV adaptation Aarambh, Kritika was skeptical about doing a TV serial let alone a Bollywood film. A report in TOI stated that she was freaked out when someone in Bollywood approached her on call as to how they got her number.
