Farhan Akhtar slams BJP leader Gvl Narasimha Rao for saying actors have a lower IQ!

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao have engaged in a battle on Twitter over the latter’s remarks on film stars.

It all started when Bharatiya Janata Party’s spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao during a debate on the ongoing controversy pertaining to film ‘Mersel’ on a news channel commented that most of our film stars have a low general knowledge.

Rao, criticising the movie and its makers in the TV interview, said: “In any case, most of our film stars have very low IQ, very low general knowledge.”

This statement, however did not go down well with actor and filmmaker, Farhan Akhtar. He offence to his statement and tweeted, “How dare you, sir?? @GVLNRAO And to all film people in his ranks.. here’s what he thinks of you. #shame”.

GVL Narsimha Rao soon responded to Farhan Akhtar’s statement on Twitter and said, “Farhan ji, Expressing an opinion is not a dare. Respect stars4work. Pl do take criticism in stride. No intolerance please!!”

For the uninitiated, the Tamil movie ‘Mersel’ starring superstar Vijay has become the eye of the storm for it has a politically-loaded dialogue on Goods and Service Tax (GST) as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiatives. Since the movie has released, BJP has been demanding the makers to chop off the scenes.

Since the movie’s release on Diwali, the BJP has been chomping at the bit, claiming that the dialogues are a “misrepresentation of facts” and that they “can’t allow lies to be told.”

Directed by Atlee, “Mersal” stars Vijay in the roles of a village head, a doctor and a magician.
