This is something really shocking! Suraj Bahadur, who cleared the audition round of popular singing reality show Indian Idol in 2008 has been arrested for robbery in Delhi.
The 28-year-old was arrested along with his partner in crime Anil. They were arrested after a robbery was reported in Delhi’s Ranhola area on Oct. 21.
Last week, Suraj alias Fighter and three of his accomplices were arrested after they held a man at gunpoint, used pepper spray on him and made off with his gold chain and his leather bag.
Suraj apparently confessed to his crime, which he did to fund his lavish lifestyle.
“The accused admitted to their involvement in more than two dozen cases of robbery, auto lifting, thefts, and offenses under the Arms Act. A country-made pistol, a live .32 bore cartridge, a pepper spray, and a scooter were recovered from their possession,” DCP (outer Delhi) MN Tiwari told media in a statement.
Police said this is not Suraj’s first run-in with the law. “In 2014, he was arrested in a case of theft lodged at the Janakpuri police station. A number of mobile phones were recovered from him. He was again arrested in June this year in a robbery case registered at the Tilak Nagar police station,” a police officer said.
As per police, Suraj who also claims to have won two gold medals in taekwondo at the national level has 24 criminal cases against him. He is a diploma holder in computer engineering and speaks fluent English.
