Shashi Kapoor , who was a star since 1970s has been one of the most prominent member of Indian cinema of the Hindi film industry. But unfortunately, this famous Kapoor died on Monday aged 79 after a long illness which was confirmed by his family.
The multiple award-winning actor and the gorgeous charmer died at a hospital in Mumbai this evening. This news was informed by his nephew Randhir Kapoor to the Press Trust of India news agency.
The third and youngest son of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in 1961, as the lead actor, in the film Dharamputra. He began his career as a child artiste in the 1940s.
He took on the name ‘Shashiraj’ for his roles in commercial films back in the 40s, instead of using his own name because there was another Shashi Kapoor, a child artist, who was best known for his roles in mythological films.
But, as this star left the world, he left some incomplete wishes, and the biggest one was working Mr. Dilip Kumar. Yes, you heard it right, Shashi wanted to direct a movie with Dilip Kumar performing as the lead actor. Shashi Kapoor used to watch Dilip’s movies very carefully and has always loved his acting skills.
He had written the script about Dilip Sahab’s film, but due to the loss with films, and declining heath, the film could not be made. Shashi ji’s Dilip Saheb’s desire to work with could not be completed.
However, the friendship between the two was admirable, and we wish peace to this great soul. #RIP
