Shatrughan Sinha gets honoured by Karni Sena for speaking against ‘Padmavati’!



Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has already heating up the news channels with great headlines. Now, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Shatrughan Sinha slammed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for organising a special screening of his film ‘Padmavati’ for media before getting it certified.

The actor-turned-politician also asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Information and Broadcasting Minister Smriti Irani to break silence on the entire controversy.

 “As Padmavati becomes a burning controversy, people are asking why the legendary @SrBachchan, most versatile @aamir_khan & most popular @iamsrk have no comments..& how come our I&B Ministe r or our most popular Hon’ble PM (according to PEW) are maintaining stoic silence. High time!” Shatrughan tweeted last month.

He also tweeted that, “As for me, I would and should speak on Padmavati issue only after the “great filmmaker, producer S.L.Bhansali speaks up. I speak only when I am spoken to and I will speak keeping in mind the interests of the filmmaker as well as the sensitivity, valour, loyalty of the great Rajputs.”

Condemning the director’s act, the lawmaker reportedly suggested that Bhansali should have first screened his film before the The Shri Rajput Karni Sena members as he had allegedly promised to do.

And now, the actor has been honoured bt Karni Sena for not supporting the film. Karni Sena who have made it their life’s mission to oppose the film. Yes, you read that right! He got honoured for not siding with Padmavati and the gang.

The fringe group has been holding nationwide protests seeking a ban on the release of Padmavati accusing the director of manipulating historical facts.

Starring Deepika Padukone with Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in key roles, the magnum opus tells the tale of Rani Padmavati, the legendary Mewar queen known for her beauty and intelligence as well as courage, her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh, a Rajput warrior king who fought to defend his kingdom and wife’s honour, and Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
