Raza Academy pens letter to Smriti Irani to ban Priya Varrier’s Manikya Malaraya Poovi song

Few days ago, a group of Muslim youths from Hyderabad filed a police complaint against internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier and the composer of ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ song for hurting their sentiments.

The report says that ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, when translated into English, is blasphemy and insults the Prophet Mohammed.

Now, according to latest reports, Raza Academy has penned a letter to Union Information and Broadcasting minister Smriti Irani seeking a ban on internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier’s song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’ from her debut movie ‘Oru Adaar Love’.

The academy has alleged that the said Malayalam song insults Prophet Mohammad and his ‘pious wife’.

The song became a huge hit on the internet within few hours of its release and Priya Prakash Varrier became a heartthrob of many with her wink and expressions.

The song is sung by filmmaker Vineeth Srinivasan and composed by Shaan Rehman.
