Akshay Kumar installs sanitary pad vending machines in Mumbai!

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar starrer Padman has been released in cinemas and the film has been receiving amazing response from the audience.


The film is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has helped spread awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.

Now, the actor went ahead and installed a sanitary pad vending machine in Mumbai Central ST Bus Depot and hopes to put several across India.

The actor took to Twitter to share a photograph of him along with Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray inaugurating the vending machine.

“Placed a sanitary pad vending machine at Mumbai Central ST Bus Depot today, hoping to place more across the state and eventually hopefully the whole country. Thank you Aaditya Thackeray for your support,” he captioned the image.

Thackeray thanked Akshay and said that the film should cross the Rs 100 crore-mark soon.

 

Padman is Twinkle Khanna’s production venture in association with Gauri Shinde. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte who play the female leads in the film.
