A Jodhpur court has sentenced Bollywood superstar Salman Khan to five-year jail term in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, while other actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari have been acquitted.
The actor has also been fined Rs 10,000. The actor is being taken for a medical examination now and then he will be sent to Jodhpur Central Jail.
The members of Bishnoi community are shouting slogans against Salman Khan as the actor is being taken to the hospital for medical examination.
The actor’s bail application has been moved and will be taken up at 10:30 am on Friday morning. The actor therefore will have to spend the night in Jodhpur Central Jail.
As per media reports, when the court declared the sentence, Salman’s sisters Arpita and Alvira could not hold back their tears.
Salman Khan is accused of killing two blackbucks on October 2, 1998 in Kankani village in Jodhpur while shooting Hum Saath Saath Hain. Salman’s co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Tabu, who were also shooting for the film, are the co-accused in the case.
A local named Dushyant Singh, who was also an accused, has been acquitted as well.
