On Thursday, the actor tweeted a photograph from the film. Alongside the photograph, it was written: “Win the original Naval uniform I wore in the movie ‘Rustom’. Bidding closes May 26.”

The actor captioned the pic as  “Hi all. I’m thrilled to announce that you can bid to win the actual naval officer uniform I wore in ‘Rustom’. Auction’s proceeds will support the cause of animal rescue and welfare. Place your bid at http://www.SaltScout.com.”

But, this thing didn’t goes well down withe the netizens. In an elongated post on Facebook, Lt Col Sandeep Ahlawat slammed the author-producer saying that uniform isn’t a piece of cloth to make some quick bucks.

He wrote, “Uniform is not a piece of cloth that a producer hands over to cinestars for enacting roles and make some quick bucks. The permission to wear Uniform comes from the office of the President of India. Uniform is earned with your blood, toil and sweat which is placed on the mortal remains of a soldiers along with the tricolour. If you even make a feeble attempt to auction this piece of costume in the garb of “UNIFORM” then I will drag you to the court. You may like to check my credentials. You touch our honour and we will give you a bloody nose.”

In reply, Twinkle Khanna believes in taking legal action instead of retaliating with “violent threat” online. “As a society, do we really think it’s all right to threaten a woman with bodily harm for trying to raise funds for a charity by auctioning a uniform used in a movie, a piece of film memorabilia ? I will not retaliate with violent threats but by taking legal action!”

Rustom is a period crime thriller/courtroom drama starring Akshay Kumar as a Parsi Indian naval officer. The events of the film were inspired by the famous 1959 Nanavati murder case which became one of the last court cases in India to be heard as a jury trial.

The film also stars actress Ileana D’Cruz and Esha Gupta. For his performance in the film, Akshay Kumar received the National Film Award for Best Actor at the 64th National Film Awards.
