Recently, famous actor Alok Nath has been accused of rape by Senior TV writer-producer, Vinta Nanda. The veteran writer-producer has accused actor Alok Nath of raping her 19 years ago.
After Vinta, Sandhya Mridul and Deepika Amin also accused Alok Nath of sexual misconduct.
Well now, Vinta on Wednesday filed a police complaint against the actor. This comes just days after Nath filed a civil defamation suit against Nanda.
Speaking to ANI outside the Oshiwara police station, Vinta said, “I have lodged a complaint, which has been accepted by the police. The officials have been really helpful and the process went easy and smooth.”
However, she said that it wasn’t easy to recount the whole event which took place almost two decades ago.
For the uninitiated, Nanda was working as a writer on the 90s TV show Tara in which Alok Nath played the lead. In her complaint, she elaborated on her Facebook post in which she accused Nath of drugging her drink at a party in his house. She also alleged that after she left his home feeling uneasy, he picked her up in his car while offering to drop her home but instead took her to another location where he allegedly raped her.
The #MeToo movement gained momentum in India after Tanushree Dutta spoke up against Nana Patekar almost two weeks ago. Recently, a lot of such cases have come to the fore, with big names like Vikas Bahl, Kailash Kher, Rohit Roy, Rajat Kapoor being accused of harrasement by women.
