Bollywood actress Konkona Sen Sharma’s father and well-known polymath, science writer and actor Mukul Sharma passes away in Delhi on Thursday night. He was 69.
Sharma, the former husband of Aparna Sen, was known for his role in Sen’s film, Paroma, released in 1984. He also showed a brief presence in the film 36 Chowringhee Lane, also directed by Sen.

A popular science writer, he worked as the editor of Science Today magazine. Sharma also ran a popular column, Mindsport, in the Illustrated Weekly of India. When the Illustrated Weekly shut down, he moved his column to The Sunday Times.
Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj bought the film rights of three of his stories, one of which was adapted by Bhardwaj for the film, Ek Thi Daayan (2013), featuring Konkona. The others were Dream Sequence and Ghost.
Mukul Sharma is survived by his wife Binita and two daughters Kamalini and actress Konkona.
