The actress took to her Twitter and wrote, “What has happened to baby… is heartbreaking and horrific. I pray for her and her family. I also urge people to not make this into a selfish agenda. This is a little girl’s death, not a reason to spread your hate.”

As soon as the actress posted this tweet, she gets massively trolled on social media. Her tweet drew the attention of filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, a key member of the Indian Film and TV Directors Association (IFTDA), who cited what the actress’ placard-bearing post had said at the time of another case involving a little girl from Kathua.

Ashoke slammed the actress and wrote, “@sonamakapoor On #Asifa U questioned d values of india by tweeting : “I am Hindustan. I am ashamed. 8 years old gang raped & murdered in ‘Devi’-sthaan Temple.” And nw on #TwinkleSharma you tweet saying  “I urge Ppl to not make ds into a selfish agenda.” Why this disparity ?”

To this, Sonam replied: “Because I practise Hinduism and I believe in Karma.”

To this, Ashoke wrote “I hv nt qstnd ur beliefs bt want to knw why dr’s a diffrnce in Ur reaction btwn #Asifa & #Twinkle. Why ds delayed reaction ?Why no playcards? Why nt tkng names of d accused ?Don’t U think al crimes shld b condemned wth same intensity nd similar language. #JusticeForTwinkleSharma”

To this, Sonam wrote, “I’m sure you have better things to do then troll me. Hope you find peace and love. Thank you for your opinions, this made my day. Ignorance is truly bliss.”

A social media user commented, saying: “Looks like your idea of karma is distorted to suit your agenda.”

Sonam explained: “I don’t have an agenda. It seems like you do. Please don’t be so hateful. It doesn’t suit you. I hope you find fulfilment and peace.”

When another social media user called out Sonam for her posts, the actress said: “As a Hindu, I believe in karma. And believe in speaking up for those with no voice.”

Well, the incident took place in Tappal town in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. The dead body of the girl, who was missing since the last few days, was found in a garbage dump on June 2. The body was found in a horrible state with the minor’s eyes gouged out, broken hands – not far from the child’s home.

According to police, a postmortem was conducted under the supervision of a team of three doctors which confirmed that she was strangulated but ruled out the possibility of rape.
