3. Phoenix Shed Some Serious Weight For The Role
Phoenix has reportedly lost a ton of weight to play the Joker as his director Todd Phillips, wanted his character Arthur Fleck to be thin and slim. Phoenix lost the weight carefully, under the guidance of a doctor, but the severe calorie deprivation he endured affected his eating habits well after he hit his goal.
4. Batman Won’t Appear
Wayne’s father is set to appear in the film as a nod to the character’s shared history with the Dark Knight, but it would be a huge and almost pointless surprise to see Batman appear in this movie. This is the Joker’s time to shine. Batman need not apply.
5. It’s A Standalone Joker Film
Despite the size of the DC universe and the unlimited options and temptation to link movies together, Joker will sit firmly on its own as a standalone effort. That means the story, character arcs, and anything else Phillips throws into the mix will be relevant to this film only.
