On Tuesday evening Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a nationwide complete lockdown for 21 days.

Amid all this, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has announced that the mythology series ‘Ramayan’ will air again from March 28, Saturday.

On Twitter, Prakash Javadekar announced that due to public demand, the show Ramayana that clocked 33 years this year will retelecast from Saturday. His tweet read, “Happy to announce that on public demand, we are starting retelecast of ‘Ramayana’ from tomorrow, Saturday March 28 in DD National, One episode in morning 9 am to 10 am, another in the evening 9 pm to 10 pm.@narendramodi @PIBIndia@DDNational.”

Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayan’ is one of the most popular television shows of the 80s. It aired on Doordarshan and it featured Arun Govil as Ram and Deepika Chikhalia as Sita, Arvind Trivedi as Raavan and Dara Singh as Hanuman. It originally aired from 25 January 1987 to 31 July 1988.
