Vendors Association lashes out at Raj Kundra, calling him a ‘420’

Two months after Best Deal TV temporarily suspended its services in a bid to recuperate from the effects of demonetisation, employees of the Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra owned-home shopping channel have alleged that their dues haven’t been cleared.

Although Raj Kundra denied of this allegations, the Vendors Association criticzed him for it!

Reading the news, Raj Kundra took Twitter to lash out the piece of information. He tweeted,Hi @sonildedhia sad that u need 2make up stories https://bollywoodpapa.com//m.mid-day.com/articles/shilpa-shetty-kundra-raj-kundra-company-pay-employees-best-deal-tv-bollywood-news/17995162 … there is not a SINGLE salary I left unpaid b4 stepping down.

He further wrote in another Tweet “Sir those are of vendors & Mr Hari himself who has not taken salary! Such stories r great for business pages my friend. Let’s not dramatise.”

But, All India Vendors Online Association was not at all happy this. They responded to the Tweet by Kundra that said, ” @sonildedhia @TheRajKundra vendor payments pending since 12 months. More than 40 cr. blaming DeMo for failed business. @sonildedhia @TheRajKundra further, vendors have not “supplied” to BDTV, BD has sold vendors goods, collected money, and not paid back. @sonildedhia @TheRajKundra not paying back the money, is a breach of trust. Commonly known as 420.”

Raj Kundra, who continues to be on the board of directors with a 63 per cent stake in the company along with Shilpa Shetty Kundra, had sent his resignation via email on December 15. “I would like to officially resign as CEO of Best Deal TV. All good things come to an end, I guess,” he had written. Around the same time, the employees were intimated about the company’s decision to impose a 50 per cent pay cut for November and December. Soon after the announcement, around 40 staffers of the 80-member team put in their papers.

As reported in a leading tabloid, an employee from the channel said, ” Production was stopped on November 1, almost a week before the government’s note ban announcement. How can demonetization be the reason? We were paid for half of November but are yet to receive salaries for the remaining month-and-a-half. We’ve made several attempts to reach out to them, but haven’t got a response. Most of us are jobless and barely managing to support our families.”

However upon this, the COO of Best Deal TV, Hari Trivedi gave an explanation saying, “If they are complaining about receiving only half the amount, it is wrong. We had communicated about the 50 per cent pay cut, which has been imposed across the board, in writing. The company has 90 days to make the full and final settlement. So technically, we have time till March 31 to clear outstanding dues.”
