Alankrita Shrivastava’s recently released film ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ broke many stereotypes and went on to be a critical as well as commercial success. After a very good 1st week of 10.96 crores, the film made its message of ‘ruling amongst all odds’ very clear. The film has gathered 11 awards at international film festivals.
All the four protagonists Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur got appreciation from the audience but not many people are aware that actress Plabita, who played the role of Muslim girl Rehana Abidi, is the sister of ‘Swaragini’ fame actress Parineeta Borthakur in real life.
Parineeta Borthakur, known for shows like “Swaragini” and “Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani”, has praised her sister Plabita Borthakur for living her dream by starring in the movie Lipstick Under My Burkha.

“I always loved off-beat films and though I wasn’t lucky enough to get such roles, I am happy my sister is fulfilling my dreams,” added Parineeta, who will star in The Underworld, an Assamese film.
“Lipstick Under My Burkha” traces the life of four women, who challenge the prejudices prevalent in the society. The Censor Board had initially refused to certify the film. However, it finally released with ‘A’ certificate and a few cuts as suggested by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal.
