The longest runner, ‘Chidiya Ghar’ is all set to undergo a major development once again. The show which recently underwent a leap will now be facilitating another change in the form of the character of Mayuri witnessing another actress getting replaced.

The makers of the show have roped in a new actress to essay the part of Mayuri, which was earlier played by Debina Bonnerjee and Shafaq Naaz. BT has it that Shafaq has been replaced by former ‘Bigg Boss’ contestant, Bhojpuri actress Monalisa, who was last seen on ‘Nach Baliye’ with her husband Vikrant Singh Rajput.

Shafaq, who shot her last episode in the end of June, says TOI, “I have been a part of ‘Chidiya Ghar’ for the past two-and-a-half years. I wasn’t able to give time to myself and hence, decided to take a break for a couple of months.”

Ask Monalisa why she picked up an ongoing show instead of a new project and she replies, “‘Chidiya Ghar’ is a popular, long-running show. A new show takes time to establish and also, its fate is uncertain. On the other hand, it will be easier for the audience to connect with me as an already established character. Another reason I grabbed this opportunity is because I loved the character — Mayuri expresses through her eyes and breaks into a dance frequently. I also love to dance irrespective of my mood so I could relate to her.”

The actress says that she will add her own flavour to the character and won’t follow her predecessors. “I am sure that the makers will also incorporate a few changes in the character, keeping me in mind,” she notes.

We wish Monalisa all the best for her TV fiction debut!
