BMC sends notice to Rani Mukerji over illegal construction

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji has invited a fresh trouble for herslef over unauthorized construction in her Juhu bungalow.

Apparently the actress was granted commencement certificate (CC) for the same to her KrishnaRam bungalow in Juhu in the year 2014. As per BMC records available on AutoDCR website the validity of it was until November 2015. But some of the activists have alleged that the height of the bungalow was increased after the expiry date of the CC.

According to the media reports, the BMC officials will be visiting Rani’s bungalow along with the police on August 30.

“The K-west ward office got complaints from activists regarding alleged construction work being carried out illegally, in violation of the approved plans that were submitted to BMC’s Building Proposal Department. On receiving the complaint, we issued a notice to the owner and paid a visit but were not allowed to inspect the premises,” said a civic official was quoted saying in a Mid Day report.

Prashant Gaikwad, the assistant civic commissioner of K-west ward, confirmed: “We issued a notice a week ago, under section 488 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, which allows BMC to enter a building or land for inspection.”

On the other hand, Rani Mukerji’s spokesperson has reprotedly claimed that CC has been revalidated every year, and the height of the bungalow is as per the approved plans.
