Adopting a child is probably one of the most rewarding experiences for a couple. So, every time we hear about celebrities adopting a baby, we feel happy for them. With the ‘adoption fever’ catching on among our popular celebrities, we take a look at some of them who brought home a bundle of joy to complete their families.
1.Jay Bhanushali and Mahhi Vij
Telly couple Mahhi Vij and actor Jay Bhanushali have recently become proud parents. Recently, the couple partially adopted two kids a boy and a girl. While the kids are officially staying with their parents, Mahhi has decided to take care of their education and other basic needs. Jay and Mahhi got married in 2011 and are quite fond of kids.
2. Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee
Popular Indian television couple Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee are now parents to two daughters. The duo has adopted two girls named Pooja (6) and Lata (9) from Jarampur, Gurmeet’s hometown in Bihar. In 2014, Gurmeet and Debina had met Pooja and Lata at a family wedding in Jarampur. Pooja is an orphan who stayed with her uncle, Lata’s father, who also passed away recently.
3. Sunny Leone and Daniel Weber
Sunny Leone and husband Daniel Weber have adopted a 21 month old baby girl from Latur in Maharashtra. The couple named her Nisha Kaur Weber. Sunny Leone, without caring about the world, happily adopted Nisha ‘without looking at colour, background and health status’.
4. Preity Zinta
Dimple girl Preity Zinta is at the forefront in child adoption. In 2009, on her 34th birthday she not only adopted one or two child, but she adopted 34 orphaned girls from Rishikesh. Preity is giving equal attention to all and she also help them in giving education. Preity sure to meet these girls at least twice a year.
5. Raveena Tandon
Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon are among those celebs who are known for adopting children. Before got married to Anil Thadani, she adopted two girls Chhaya and Pooja when they were 11 and 8 years old, respectively. Today, they both are married now.
6. Rohit Shetty
Rohit Shetty has recently adopted as many as 10 children who have cancer. According to a report, the 40-year-old director said that he will bear all their expenses henceforth. In addition, the ‘Chennai Express’ maker noted that he will not limit the number to 10 as he will be adopting cancer kids every year.

7. Sushmita Sen
Ditching to get hitched, Sushmita adopted a daughter in 2000 and had to fight a legal battle too, because she was just 25 and people didn’t find it socially acceptable to obtain the guardianship of a kid at that age. But she never gave up and did exactly what she wanted to do. She became the mother of two after adopting second girl Alisah in 2010.
8. Kunal Kohli
Director, producer, writer and chef, Kunal Kohli and his wife Raveena had to pass through a difficult phase for adopting a little baby girl. They call her by the name Radha. He is currently busy in nurturing him. Kunal is best known as the director of Hum Tum (2004) and Fanaa (2006).
9. Mithun Chakraborty
Mithun Chakraborty adopted his first daughter Dishani when she was a baby. Years ago, an infant girl was found abandoned near a roadside garbage dump in West Bengal. When popular actor Mithun Chakraborty got to know of her plight, he decided to rescue and adopt her. Dishani has now grown up as a beautiful lady with her dearest brothers Namashi, Rimoh and Mimoh.
10. Neelam and Samir Soni
In September 2013, after two years of marriage Neelam and Samir have adopted a baby girl named Aahna. The couple had tied the knot in January 2011. Says actress-turned-jewellery designer Neelam says, “Adoption has been on our minds for quite a while. The procedure took a couple of months”.
11. Salim Khan
Arpita Khan Sharma is one of the most important names of Salman Khan’s life. Arpita Khan is the adopted daughter of Salim Khan and Salma. There are no clear details about her biological parents. Others claim that it was Salim’s second wife Helen found her as an orphan kid crying on road. It is said that Arpita’s mother was a bagger and she died immediately after giving birth to Arpita. That was the time when Salim and Helan were passing by, noticed a child near a dead body. They decided to bring that child home and make a part of their family. Today’s Arpita is the apple of eyes of the Khan family.
12. Nikkhil Advani
Nikkhil who is an Indian film producer, director and screenwriter adopted Keya, when she was 4 years old and he loves spending time with his daughter.
13. Subhash Ghai
Subhash Ghai has adopted a little girl named Meghna. Upon growing up she perused her higher studies in London. She is very much loved by the entire family. Now, she is married to Rahul Puri.
14. Dibakar Banerjee
Dibakar Banerjee adopted a baby girl from a Mumbai-based orphanage in 2010, and is raising her with his wife, Richa. He named her Ira.
15. Shobhana
Actor and Bharatanatyam dancer Shobhana adopted a baby girl in 2010, and performed the annaprasana for her at the famous Guruvayur temple in Kerala.
