Cancer doesn’t discriminate between the rich & the poor, between the celebrities and the common man, it strikes them all. Here we take a look at Bollywood & Indian celebrities who died due to cancer. Just have a look.

1. Tom Alter

Veteran TV and film actor Tom Alter passed away at his Mumbai residence. He was 67. The actor was suffering from squamous cell carcinoma (a type of skin cancer). Tom Alter was battling stage four skin cancer at a Mumbai hospital.

2. Vinod Khanna

Renowned bollywood actor and politician Vinod Khanna passes away in April this year following prolonged illness. He was 70. He had been battling advanced bladder cancer. The ailing actor had been hospitalised for a brief period, and generally had not been keeping well for a long time. Khanna, was undoubtedly the finest actors in the Hindi film industry.

3. Rajesh Khanna

Rajesh Khanna, who was  referred to as the “first superstar” and the “original superstar” of Indian cinema died on 18 July 2012, at his bungalow, Aashirwad, in Mumbai after battling cancer for a long time. He was 69. After his death his co-star Mumtaz said that Khanna was suffering from cancer for the duration of the prior year and had undergone chemotherapy sessions.

4. Nargis Dutt

Nargis Dutt who was regarded as one of the greatest actresses in the history of Hindi cinema was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and underwent treatment for the disease at Memorial Sloan–Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Upon her return to India, her condition deteriorated, and she was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Bombay. She went into a coma on 2 May 1981 and died the next day. She was best known for her role as Radha in the Academy Award nominated ‘Mother India’.

5. Aadesh Shrivastava

Aadesh Shrivastava was a music composer and singer of Indian music. Just a day after he turned 51, he died of cancer in Kokilaben Hospital. According to hospital , he passed away after fighting the disease hard for over 40 days. His state had become very fragile in the last few days.

6. Simple Kapadia

Younger sister of Dimple Kapadia, Simple Kapadia was a Bollywood actress and costume designer. Kapadia undergo from cancer for three years and died in a hospital in Andheri, Mumbai on November 10, 2009, aged 51.

7. Ashraf Ul Haq

An NSD graduate, Ashraful Haque hailed from Goalpara, Assam. His contribution to Hindi cinema was significant and he had been part of more than 30 Hindi films, TV shows and commercials. He breathed his last at Andheri, Mumbai on February 17, 2015. Haque was suffering from bone marrow cancer and was going through intensive treatment for the past two years. He proved his talent with films like Deewar, Paan Singh Tomar, Fukrey, Company, etc.
