Blackbuck case: Bishnoi community to appeal against acquittal of Saif, Sonali, Tabu and Neelam

Salman Khan has been convicted in the black buck poaching case of 1998. The Jodhpur court delivered the verdict in the infamous 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

Salman was facing charges under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, the actor has been sentenced to five years in jail.

Apart from Salman, Bollywood actors Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were other accused in the case. However, they have been acquitted.

Bishnoi community, who registered a complaint against Salman and his four co-actors in October 1998 has decided to appeal against the acquittal of the other four actors, and said they will move a higher court.

“We will analyse the judgement. We want an immediate appeal to be filed against those who have been acquitted and we also demand maximum punishment for Salman Khan,” Rampal Bhawad, State President of Bishnoi Tigers Vanya Evam Paryavaran Sanstha, told news agency ANI.

Salman Khan  is accused of killing two blackbucks on October 2, 1998 in Kankani village in Jodhpur while shooting Hum Saath Saath Hain. Salman’s co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, and Tabu, who were also shooting for the film, are the co-accused in the case.

A local named Dushyant Singh, who was also an accused, has been acquitted as well.
