Ekta Kapoor on ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ remake, says she will not remake without Smriti Irani

Telly Queen Ekta Kapoor has recently bring back her most popular daily soap on TV, Kasautii Zindagii Kay with a brand new cast. The TV czarina is quite happy and excited with the response the show is getting from the audience.

The show on-air on September 25. Actors like Parth Samthaan and Erica Fernandes are playing the role of Anurag and Prerna in the show.

‘Kasautii Zindagi Kay’ season 1 launched in 2001 and starred Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan in the lead roles as Prerna and Anurag. In no time, the serial with a Bengali backdrop went on to become a massive hit with the audience lapping up on the romance of the couple. While, Urvashi Dholakia played the vicious Komolika, and her style and swag made her character an iconic one.

In an interview with Mid Day, when Ekta Kapoor was asked why she remade Kasautii and not Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, she answered, “As a story, Kasautii worked far better. It is something I’ve always wanted to remake. Plus, I will not remake Kyunki without Smriti Irani, and she won’t do it!”

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was one of the longest running daily soaps on Indian television, running from 2000-2008 and completing 1833 episodes.

The show was co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor under their banner Balaji Telefilms.
