The trailer of Jungle Cry, starring Abhay Deol in the lead, was released on 19 May at Cannes Film Festival 2019.
The film features Abhay Deol and Emily Shah in major roles and shows the journey of 12 kids and a coach who put India on a world map by winning an international rugby tournament.
The trailer shows the story of a few tribal kids and their struggle. It has Abhay playing the character of real-life rugby coach Rudraksh Jena who invests his time and belief in the kids and trains them for four months to win the Junior World Cup in the UK in the year 2007.
It is inspired by the true story of the rugby team of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). Overcoming many challenges, Dr Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT University and KISS had sent 12 tribal boys under 13 years of age in KISS Rugby Team to participate in the World Cup in London.
The KISS rugby team not only won the Champions Trophy, but also attracted special attention from rugby fans across the globe.
The film is directed by Bheja Fry helmer Sagar Ballary. Actress Emily Shah plays the role of a physiotherapist.
