On Friday, actor Aditya Pancholi was granted interim relief by Mumbai Sessions court in a rape case filed against him by a Bollywood actress.

“The court on Friday adjourned the hearing on the plea till August 3. The interim protection granted to Pancholi from arrest shall continue till then,” Pancholi’s advocate Prashant Patil said.

The 54-year-old actor has been charged under sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison), 384 (extortion), 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In her complaint, the actress said that she was raped on several occasions by Aditya Pancholi. She said she was in a forced relationship with Aditya Pancholi and that he used to harass her sexually as well as mentally.

 She also claimed that he tried to extort money from her once she became famous by blackmailing her with compromising photographs taken when she was drugged.

However, Aditya denied all these allegations levelled against him. “I am being falsely implicated in this case. I have all the evidence and video in this case.” he said.
