However, only a few days ahead of the release, director Vishal Bhardwaj, along with his team, has re-edited the eagerly-awaited film and brought down its length by nearly 40 minutes. The original length of the film was two hours, forty-seven minutes.

Apparently, it was a voluntary decision made by helmer Vishal Bhardwaj and producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18. The length was reduced to conform to the liking of the present generation and to make it more viewer-friendly.

Says a source close to the development, “Everyone in the team feels that Rangoon has turned out to be very special. But at nearly three hours of playing time, the film was seen to be too long for today’s generation. Vishal and his producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 have voluntarily decided to bring the length down by more than half an hour.”

Meanwhile, the Central Board of Certification (CBFC) has given the film a U/A certificate after demanding a replacement of three cuss words that have been changed to ‘Bakchor’, ‘Rascal’ and ‘Jhoothi’.

The flick set against the political turmoil of World War II will hit the silver screen on February 24.
