Salman Khan becomes Bollywood’s highest advance tax payer

Bollywood actor Salman Khan once again proved to be the Sultan of Bollywood by paying the highest advance tax beating Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan in the financial year 2016-17.

The actor continues to rule the roost with income from his blockbuster ‘Sultan’ and hosting another season of his hit reality show. According to reports, Salman paid an estimated advance tax of Rs 44.5 crore for the financial year compared to Rs 32.2 crore paid in the last fiscal 2015-16. That means, his annual income saw a growth of 39 percent in one year.

But the one who has surprised the Income Tax (IT) department is comedian-actor Kapil Sharma, whose income has shot up by almost 206 per cent in just one year. In the current financial year Kapil has paid an advance tax of Rs 23.9 crore compared to only Rs 7 crore in the last fiscal.

Akshay Kumar secures the second place by paying an advance tax of Rs 29.5 crore compared to Rs 30 crore in last fiscal year. Hrithik Roshan follows Akshay and Salman. The actor has paid an advance tax payment of Rs 25.5 crore compared to Rs 14 crore in last year.

Karan Johar is the only director in top 10 advance tax payers from Bollywood. Among female actors are Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor.
