While Akshay pledged Rs 9 lakh in assistance to each family and Nehwal had donated Rs 6 lakh respectively. And that didn’t go down well with the extremist forces.

Expressing their anger against Akshay and Saina in a pamphlet found in south Bastar, Chhattisgarh, the Naxalites have suggested that the cine star, and international badminton player, should not have stood by the side of jawans deployed to safeguard the interest of corporate houses and political patrons. “We condemn the financial assistance given to the families of CRPF jawans killed in PLGA attacks. We appeal to famous figures, film actors, sportspersons and celebrities to stand with the revolution and poor people. Stand against police atrocities and human rights violations,” read the pamphlet.

The pamphlets were circulated during the week-long anniversary of the Naxal movement, a senior police officer in Bastar said.

Akshay had also recently met Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi expressing his desire to contribute to the security forces and also with a plan to develop a smartphone app (application) so that any citizen can donate money to the family of those needy jawans or officers who gets killed in the line of duty.

Kumar also launched the Bharat Ke Veer app which facilitates direct digital transfer of money from donors to the families of slain soldiers of paramilitary forces.
