Story of the movie: The story is based on Mahavir Singh Phogat (Aamir Khan) who is a former champion wrestler. He is married to Shobha Kaur (Sakshi Tanwar). Phogat’s dream is to win a gold medal for India in wrestling. He is unable to do this. He promises that his son will do what he couldn’t do. However, although he loves them dearly, Phogat is disappointed when Shobha gives birth to four daughters. He does not believe girls can wrestle well. However, when two of his daughters, Geeta and Babita, come home after beating up two boys, Phogat realises how wrong he has been and begins to train his daughters in wrestling. The film is the story of how Phogat trained his daughters to become professional wrestlers.
Star Performance: Aamir Khan once again delivered a brilliant performance. On the other hand, Sakshi Tanwar who plays the role of Aamir’s wife, is restrained, yet effective. And, the debutants Fatima and Sanya are easily this year’s best finds.
Music Direction: The film’s music is good.
Direction: The film’s direction is good. As a director, it is a big film for Nitesh Tiwari, in which he has done a remarkable direction. Nitesh has done its 100%. Alongwith direction, the casting of the film is quite good. The film is inspiring and empowering.
