Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been gracing and wowing at the Cannes Film Festival since 2002. The world’s most beautiful woman was the first Indian actress to be invited for the Cannes Film Festival all these years ago.
Aishwarya, who arrived in Cannes Film Festival as the brand ambassador of Beauty Brand Laureal Paris, has been able to stop the critics’ mouths after this year’s cordial experience. She is representing India on this platform from last 15-years.
Cannes 2002
A global icon and gorgeous woman made her Cannes debut in 2002 at the premiere of “Devdas”. Accompanied by her director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and leading man Shah Rukh Khan, she went the traditional route. Clad in a golden Neeta Lulla saree and weighed down by what looked like all the gold in the Indian coffers, Aishwarya’s beauty still managed to shine through and made the world sit up and take notice.
Cannes 2003
Due to his influential personality, Aishwarya was given a place in Cannes jury in 2003. She went the traditional route again and chose friend Neeta Lulla to design again. A green saree with her hair done up in a top knot, she played it safe but her look fell flat and earned her a lot of flak.
She continued the garish style charade with shimmering pink dress with diamonds and a messy hairdo along with a brown and red lehenga set. Unflattering choices, these ensembles highlighted her depressing style choices.

Cannes 2004
In 2004, Aishwarya was walking as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal for the first time, an association that has continued till now and she continued her association with Neeta Lulla as well. Wearing the gown with jewellery from Chopard, the silver sequined gown with cut-outs and a bare back were unflattering and the scarf was simply an unnecessary accessory. This time too she failed to make an impression.
Cannes 2005
Aishwarya, after three years of criticism, appeared in the red carpet in Gregory Armani’s printed gown in 2005 and just nailed it. A black Gucci gown with a short train and a plunging neckline showcased the stunner like never before. She nailed the red carpet with a floral, printed dress by the International designer, Giorgio Armani and a black Gucci gown with a serious plunge and a short train.
