Story of the movie: Raazi is the true story of Sehmat (Alia Bhatt), whose father Hidayat (Rajit Kapur) is a core member of the intelligence bureau of India. The film is set in 1971, where a tense atmosphere was created between India and Pakistan, which later became the cause of war. Hidayat, who is under the disguise of a friend to the military officials of Pakistan decides to get his daughter married to Brigadier Syed’s (Shishir Sharma) son Iqbal Syed (Vicky Kaushal). As a dutiful daughter, she can do little but surrender to his passion and patriotism and follow the path he has so planned for her. How Sehmat survives her stint in Pakistan, forms the crux of the tale.
Star Performance: Once again, Alia Bhatt has managed to bowl us over with her stellar act. Vicky Kaushal as Iqbal Syed has little to do on screen. But, within the given screen-time he shines brilliantly. Among the supporting cast; Rajit Kapur as Sehmat’s father Hidayat Khan, Shishir Sharma as Iqbal’s father Brigadier Parvez Syed, Soni Razdaan as Sehmat’s mother are all effective .
Music Direction: The film’s music is good and it goes with the story.
Direction: The film’s direction is good. Jay I. Patel’s cinematography captures the performances and the era to perfection. Editing could’ve been tight in the first half, few unnecessary portions required a scissor over them. The film will hook you till the end.
Watch Or Not: Watch it for Akia Bhatt’s performance.
