The statue, measuring 6.2 feet, was inaugurated by All Bengal Amitabh Bachchan Fans’ Association (ABFA) inside “a shrine” to the actor at Bondel Gate in south Kolkata.

The fibreglass statue of Big B is seated in an ornate dark green chair procured from the set of “Aks”.

“The 25 kg statue is of the exact height of Big B himself which is around 6.2 ft. Bachchan sir had given our club the shoes that he wore in ‘Agneepath’ and the same pair can be seen on the statue. ‘Aks’ director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra had given the green chair,” Rohit Patodiya of the fan club told IANS.

Around 50 fan club members sported the ‘teeka’ on their foreheads as well as the black kurta and lungi while unveiling the statue.

“To us, he is a God. We have informed him about the statue. Nothing is done without informing him,” Patodiya said.

The statue is a tribute to the star’s 75th birth anniversary this year.
