The makers postponed the release after Arun Gawli’s daughter Geeta made a special request to Arjun and the producers, that her father will get parole in September and thus might be able to speak to the audience about the film. The movie, whose making took three years, has the involvement of Gawli family and Geeta is quite thrilled about the way it has shaped up. That’s the reason she met Arjun to request the date to be pushed so that Arun can promote the film.

The Ashim Ahluwalia-directed film is gradually approaching its release date ie. September 8 and the makers had a special premiere planned for it. Needless to say, they wanted Gawli to present at the movie’s special screening given how special it is for him and his family.

However, as per a report in Mid-Day, Gawli has been denied parole by the court to attend the premiere, as it fears such a decision may give out a wrong message. There is also the concern that Sanjay Dutt‘s multiple paroles, when he was serving his sentence in Yerwada jail, have shown both courts and the police in a poor light, and the court wants to avoid another such scenario.

A source informed the leading daily, “He had asked for his annual parole for Ganpati festivities. He had hoped to watch the film along with his family during this time. But, the authorities are uncomfortable with the idea of granting him parole at such a time. They fear that if he is used in the film’s promotions, it will reflect badly on them. Since Sanjay Dutt’s furlough had come under such scrutiny, they don’t want to repeat a similar mistake.”

When the leading daily approached Geeta for a confirmation she stated that it seemed unlikely that her father would be granted a parole anytime soon. “He won’t be around for the film’s release or premiere,” she said.
