Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who is currently busy in the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Padman’. A lot of praise has come in actor’s way for playing social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, a real-life inventor of a low-cost way of making sanitary pads for women and girls in his village, in the film.
And now if latest reports are to be believed, the actor and his wife Twinkle Khanna to hold an auction of the bicycle that Khiladi Kumar rides in the movie to raise funds to give away to an NGO working for menstrual hygiene.
This also includes spreading awareness about the tabooed topic of menstrual hygiene. Their campaign spreads across 101 villages in rural India.

Padman is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine and has helped spread awareness about traditional unhygienic practices around menstruation in rural India.
The film is Twinkle Khanna’s production venture in association with Gauri Shinde. ‘Padman’ also stars Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte who play the female leads in the film.
Written and directed by R Balkiof ‘Ki and Ka’ fame, ‘Padman’ is slated to release on Feburary 9.
