Legendary singer Asha Bhosle turns 84 today. She has achieved a new status in the industry by her lovely voice. She sang many hit songs. She is the legend who has sung over 11,000 songs in more than 20 Indian languages, been immortalized on a UK No 1 record, and found a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s most prolific recording artist.

But do you know, their are many sacrifices and struggles are hidden behind her magical and sweet voice.

Asha Ji was born on September 8, 1933. It is being said that at the age of 10, she became a professional singer.

Asha ji started her life and her career with great effort.  She got her first National Award for best female playback singer, thanks to the soul-searing ghazals she sang for Rekha in the period drama.

It is said that Love Story of Asha Ji and RD Burman breaking the headlines. They first met at a recording studio. 

According to the news, Asha Ji’s life seems so happy but it is not true. She first got married to Ganpatrao Bhosle. At theta time, she was only 16 years old. It was a love marriage but their family did not support them. They had three children. They got separated after 11 years of marriage in 1960. Her husband throws her out from the house in  pregnancy.

Asha Bhosle’s daughter, Varsha Bhosale, was a journalist and singer. She committed suicide in 2012. She was divorced and was living with Asha Tai. When Varsha committed suicide, at that time Asha Tai was in Singapore. 

After this, the biggest shock came to Asha Ji, when her son Hemant died in 2015 due to cancer. Earlier, she had lost her husband R. D. Burman many years ago.

Asha Tai got many award in her life. She won 7 Filmfare awards and 2 national awards. In 2011, she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. The Government of India honoured her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
