Actress Mahima Chaudhary, who is still remembered as the ‘Pardes’ girl celebrating her 44th birthday today. Mahima started her career opposite Shah Rukh Khan with this film.
Born in Darjeeling, Mahima started her journey from modeling and TV advertisement, she was also a VJ on the music channel and that was when she was spotted by the famous director Subhash Ghai. She was then signed opposite ShahRukh Khan for her film Pardes (1997) for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
Mahima started to do three to four film together, but, despite giving a hit film, Mahima failed to establish herself as a successful actress.
It was some time in the year 2000 that Mahima held the attention of the ace Tennis star Leander Paes who was at the peak of his career back then. Mahima was in search for a potential soul-mate and Leander was in search of true love, it did not take much time for both to jump into a relationship.
Mahima and Paed dated almost 6 years before parting ways in 2005. in an interview with leading portal Mahima was quoted “He maybe a good tennis player, but he didn’t play fair with me”. She further went on to say “It wasn’t really shocking for me when I came to know that he was going around with someone else. His exit had no impact on my life. In fact, I became more mature as a person. I feel he did the same thing with Rhea (Pillai) as well”.
In the year 2006, Mahima happened to meet Bobby Mukherji, a Kolkata based architect who happened to be a good friend of her brother. Bobby had been divorced lately and had a son from a previous marriage. He was anyway considering a second shot at matrimony, and with Mahima in his sight, he could see love beckoning him again. The Bobby Mukherji Mahima Chaudhary marriage was a registered union, an extremely confidential private ceremony in 19th March 2006 at a hotel in Las Vegas.

Interestingly, even this wedding was kept under wraps from the film industry, media and public. Mahima spilled it out only when she started sporting a baby bump, which lead to rumours of her pregnancy before marriage.
Mahima gave birth to a baby girl in 2007 and the couple had a good run with their marriage up till 2008. In that year, there were reports of the couple’s relationship becoming sour due to by a legal dispute with Bobby’s ex-wife. At that time, Mahima rubbished it all as hearsay but in reality things were going awry. Their marriage didn’t last long as they got separated in 2013.
Mahima has a daughter with her ex-husband and is currently living the life of single parent to her 10 year old baby girl Ariana.
In 2015, Mahima Chaudhary was in news for all the wrong reasons. Her name features on the list of foreign accounts where black money was stashed. A special investigation team that was appointed by the Supreme Court for the recovery of black money. Reportedly, out of the 628 such account holders, the SIT decided that 427 cases were ‘actionable’.
Mahima, who had an account under her real name Ritu Choudhary, was noted as a ‘model and an actress’ in the account details. Though Mahima has rubbished the report .
Mahima Chaudhary even made headlines for accusing film director Subhash Ghai for casting couch. But later by saying “what is the benefit of remembering the past”, Mahima has shaken from this point.
