Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been convicted in the black buck poaching case of 1998. A Jodhpur court has sentenced Bollywood superstar to five-year jail term in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, while other actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari have been acquitted.

The court was to hear the actor’s plea against the judgement on August 3 and August 4. But now, the latest development in the case is that the court has asked the actor to seek their permission, every time, he needs to travel overseas.

The actor moved an application in the sessions court on Friday seeking exemption from an order that mandates him to take permission for going abroad.

Public prosecutor P.R. Bishnoi objected to the application, saying that since arguments would close soon, a permanent exemption would not be appropriate. Khan’s counsel Mahesh Bora told the court that the applicant’s profession demands him to travel abroad frequently.

Bora cited an earlier exemption by the High Court. He also recalled the grounds on the basis of which Khan was earlier acquitted by the High Court in two other poaching cases and by the trial court in a case against him under the Arms Act.

The actor was charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and others under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.
