Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre recently opened up about the unexpected diagnosed with a ‘high-grade cancer’ that has metastised. The actress is currently undergoing treatment in New York. As of now, we don’t know what type of cancer Sonali Bendre has. However, in these days, cancer treatment is possible and there are many celebs who are living normal life after winning the battle with cancer. So, today we are going to meet you celebs and their battle with cancer.
1. Manisha Koirala – Ovarian Cancer
Manisha Koirala had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer on 29th November 2012 and underwent surgery on 10th December. She had to undergo chemo therapy and spent months at the hospital in New York. The surgery was successful and the bollywood diva came out of it as a brave fighter. After fighting cancer and winning the battle, she is actively involved in spreading the awareness about the disease.
2. Irrfan Khan – Neuroendocrine Cancer
Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan is suffering from NeuroEndocrine Tumour. His illness came as a shock to many. The actor is still under recovery and is currently in London undergoing treatment.
3. Anurag Basu – Blood Cancer
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Basu was diagnosed with acute promyelocytic Leukemia (a type of blood cancer) in 2004. Doctors told him that he had only 50% chance of survival. But like his movies, he called the shots on life as well and fought the disease like a champ. He wrote scripts during his treatment for “Life In A Metro” and “Gangster”.

4. Mumtaz – Breast Cancer
The veteran beauty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2002, when she was 54-years-old. 6 chemotherapies and 35 radiations later, she managed to hold and was quoted telling Bangalore times: “I don’t give up easily. Even death will have to fight me.” She fought the disease for 11 years and made sure it did not get the better of her.
5. Lisa Ray – Blood Cancer
On 23 June 2009, Lisa Ray was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the white blood cells known as plasma cells, which produce antibodies. It is a rare disease. In April 2010, she announced that she was cancer-free, after a stem cell transplant. The rare disease is treatable but incurable. But she fought out of it bravely.
6. Barbara Mori – Breast Cancer
The Mexican beauty Barbara Mori, who also seen in Bollywood movie “Kites” alongside Hrithik Roshan, was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age of 29 in 2007. Because of her early detection she was able to beat the disease and cured it completely. She has been working on cancer awareness since then and participated in a documentary titled, “1-a-minute” that is about breast cancer.
7. Yuvraj Singh – Lungs Cancer
Yuvraj Singh was diagnosed with lung cancer in the year 2012. The tumour that had grown between his lungs spread soon after. Having undergone a grievous chemotherapy session at US, the cricketer battled cancer and emerged as the same old strong batsman he once was!
