CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani has been making headlines for his remarks on the films’ scenes. After having an issue with the “lady-oriented” film Lipstick Under My Burkha, objecting to the word “intercourse” in Jab Harry Met Sejal trailer, now has a problem with actors’ on-screen drinking and smoking despite having a warning on the screen.

He believes that just a warning before the movie doesn’t solve the purpose and if the movie really has a strong reason to show smoking, the film would have an A certificate.

Pahlaj told a web portal, “Merely putting a ticker warning at some remote corner of the screen whenever there is smoking or drinking shown, is not enough anymore. We feel the superstars who are followed by millions and who set an example in societal behavior must not be shown drinking or smoking on screen unless the provocation for doing so is really strong.”

“A film where alcohol is essential would have to go with an A certificate.” he added.

Meanwhile, their is a news that Pahlaj Nihalani may lose his job. A meeting of CBFC members has been called by Nihalani in Thiruvananthapuram on July 28. Ministry of information and broadcasting sources said it has been indicated to Nihalani that he might be replaced.

Prominent Bollywood personalities like filmmaker Prakash Jha, Madhur Bhandarkar and TV producer-actor Chandraprakash Dwivedi are reportedly being considered as Nihalani’s replacement.
