Recently, Several filmstars and sportspersons come together and ask the citizens of India to report the domestic violence cases.
In a video that has been released, Anushka Sharma, Virat Kohli, Dia Mirza, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Rohit Sharma, Karan Johar, Mithali Raj and many other celebs can be seen urging people to report any case of domestic violence if they see it happening in their own household or in their neighbourhood.

In the video, celebs start by saying, “During the lockdown, there’s been a sharp increase in the domestic violence cases. Now is the time to stand up against this violence. To all the women we say, now is the time to stand up and break your silence. If you are a witness to domestic violence in your home, please report it. If you are witness to domestic violence in your neighborhood report it. If you are a survivor of this report it now. Let’s put a lockdown on domestic violence.”

The initiative is curated by Akshara Centre in collaboration with Special Cell for Women and Children.

The state also announced the launch of two special helpline numbers — 1800120820050 and 18001024040 for dealing with stress and mental health issues arising out of the lockdown.
