But, it seems like the film has been surrounded in legal trouble as a complaint has been filed against the film for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Shia community.

According to reports, a BJP leader Syed Ali Jafri has filed an FIR against John’s film. In his complaint, the BJP Minority Morcha’s city general secretary, Syed Ali Jaffry has stated that the trailer of the film has hurt the religious sentiments of the people belonging to Shia community. He has also demanded a strict action against the makers of Satyameva Jayate.

In his complaint, Jaffry has mentioned that the makers have shown Muharram’s procession in a bad way in the trailer. He was quoted as saying, “There is one shot in the trailer which shows the festival of Muharram and it depicts a scene of Matam (self-flagellation). The actor is later shown committing a murder following Matam. This has hurt our sentiments.”

He has also made a request to the local Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to transfer his complaint to CFBC’s head office in Mumbai and to take the action against the scene. He further said that if the scene is not removed from the film, his party members will protest against the film all over the country and won’t allow the film to release.

A lawyer privy to the matter told Mirror Now, “The procession of Muharram has been depicted in a wrong way in the trailer. Our concerns are that the movie’s plot is based on corruption and the lead role is being played by John Abraham, who is avenging the wrongdoings on him. The makers could have very well completed the film without having a scene with the Muharram procession. The movie’s plot has nothing to do with Muharram. All these things are outraging religious feelings of a particular sect.”

The film is reported to be a cop drama and promises to be a power-packed-dialogues-infused action drama.

It has been directed by Milap Zaveri and produced by Tseries and Emmay Entertainment. The film also stars debutant Aisha Sharma, Manoj Bajpayee and Amruta Khanvilkar and will hit the theatres on 15th August 2018.

The film is likely to clash with Akshay Kumar’s Gold.
