Sanya Malhotra, who played the character of Babita Phogat in Dangal is said to have signed Aanand L Rai’s Manmarziyan.
Director Anurag Kashyap, who was looking around for a fresh face, loved her work in Dangal and approached her for the film.

Manmarziya – a Bollywood romance. went through a lot of hands in terms of directors and actors. Director Sameer Sharma was supposed to be helming the film with his lead cast being Ayushmann Khurranaand Bhumi Pednekar. The duo shared a great chemistry on screen in Dum Lagake Haisha previously. The first look for Manmarziya had also come out in 2016. But then it was rumoured that Ashwini Iyer Tiwari had come on board.
As things stand today, Anurag Kashyap will direct the film. It remains to be seen if the plan remains intact till the time Sanya comes on board.
