On appearing before the court, justice G Chockalingam directed the government doctors and the registrar of the high court bench to authenticate his identification marks.

Dhanush had filed a petition in the high court to appeal to dismiss the proceedings started by the judicial magistrate court in Melur. In response, the High Court asked Dhanush to submit his education certificates which prove that he studied in Chennai.

An elderly couple from Melur, R Katharesan and Meenakshi from Manampatti village, claimed to be Dhanush’s parents. They argued that he is their third child, who ran away from home in Class 10, in order to become an actor. They filed a petition in a local court asking the actor to pay a maintenance of Rs 65,000 per month as they were unable to fend for themselves.

The couple claimed that the actor had several identification marks that included a mole a on his right collarbone and a scar on his right forearm. Both the marks are mentioned in the school Transfer Certificate of their son, they claim.

Dhanush, on his part, has rejected the couple’s claims. He also submitted his birth certificate, which the couple alleged is a fake one.

The actor stated that he was not their son and also that somebody was behind them to extract money from him.

The next hearing is scheduled for 2 March.
