Disha Vakani who is currently on a maternity break also expressed her shock. She said, ” I am still unable to fathom that he is no more with us. It’s beyond shocking. He was one of the finest people around. He was exactly the same as shown on-screen. He loved food and loved to eat and feed everyone. I remember how he had specially got Gulab Jamuns for me during my pregnancy. I am just not able to gather myself ever since I have heard of this. It’s so shocking even more because he was all fine till now.’’

The other shows’s stars also expressed their grief. Tapu aka Bhavya Gandhi said, “I was out for a meeting when my mother informed me about it. And trust me for a few minutes I couldn’t believe what she said. It is a such a shocking news. He was the happiest person I have ever met in my life. I haven’t ever seen him sad. He used to be always laughing and making others laugh.I also remember one day when I was sitting on a chair and he couldn’t find a place to sit as no empty chair was available so he came and sat on my lap.”

Samay Shah who plays the role of ‘Gogi’ in the show said, “After I heard about this unfortunate news, there is only one thing on my mind. Azaad uncle had a very famous line in the show, “Sahi Baat Hai” and see the irony, since morning people are calling us to know ki aisa hua hai kya and hamare muh se nikal raha hai, ‘Sahi Baat Hai’ (crying).Azaad uncle will always be remembered. He was an amazing person. The whole ‘Tapu Sena’ was very close to him.He was supposed to shoot with us this morning. I was also there but suddenly everyone got numb when we came to know that he is not with us any more. He will be missed a lot.”

Pinku aka Azhar said it was a heartbreaking sight. He told the portal, “I reached the sets and saw everyone extremely sad, it was a heartbreaking sight. On Saturday, we shot together when I told him I am feeling hungry, and he immideatly ordered a sandwich for me. He used to take care of all of us. He also has his own rolls shop in Mira Road. I used to often visit there. And we used to speak for long hours. He was more like a friend to me. Someone might replace his character but replacing him is impossible. Azaad Uncle I am missing you a lot.”

Child actor Kush Shah who plays the role of Goli, Dr. Hathi’s son in the show was extremely sad. He said, “As you all know he was playing my on-screen father. I was extremely close to him. He used to talk to me as a friend. He never made me feel that he was elder to me. He gifted me a small toy which is still with me and I will always keep that with me. Replacing Azaad uncle in our lives will never be possible. In fact, I had most of my scenes with him, so you all can imagine how painful it is to lose him. I will miss him every moment.”

Kavi Kumar Azaad’s co-star from the show, who plays the society secretary, Mr. Bhide aka Mandar Chandwadkar has shared a heart-breaking reaction with us. He said, “It’s such a shocking news. This morning we all were supposed to shoot for a sequence together at Filmcity.  But then we came to know he is unwell so we decided to let him rest and go ahead with the scene without him. I will only say he completed all his work before leaving us. This was a fresh scene which we were supposed to shoot (crying). He didn’t leave anything incomplete. He was such a happy go lucky man. I still can’t believe that he is not with us. We used to sit together, eat together. As soon as he used to come, even before greeting us with  a good morning, he used to ask, ‘Tiffin mein kya laya hai?’ He was a foodie in real life also. He is irreplaceable. Sahi maayane mein Azad ho gaya. I am sorry, I have to keep the phone, I can’t talk any more.”

The actor was unwell for three days and slipped into a coma last night. He breathed his last an hour ago. He was admitted in Wokhardt Hospital at Mira Road.

May his soul rest in peace.
