Bollywood veteran Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Bandra in a critical condition last week, was discharged on Wednesday after his kidneys functions normalized.
The 94-year-old thespian’s health condition deteriorated last Thursday after his kidneys nearly stopped functioning. He came with minimal urine output and reduced food intake.
“He was extremely critical when he came here. His creatinine levels were high and his kidneys were dysfunctional. He had stopped eating completely. But over the days, his kidney functions improved,” said Ajaykumar Pandey, vice president of Lilavati. He added that Kumar is alert and conscious now. “His creatinine levels are normal now,” said Ajay Kumar Pande, Vice President, Lilavati Hospital.
Dilip Kumar’s recovery from kidney-related problems is a miracle, says his wife and former actress Saira Banu, for whom it was a “nightmare” to deal with the sudden deterioration of his health.
. Saira Banu accompanied her husband Dilip Kumar when he was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday evening. She said: “He is in good health now. All of it felt like a nightmare, how he suddenly fell sick. I am thankful to the Almighty. This has been a miracle,” told IANS.
