Veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who was admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital late Wednesday, due to severe dehydration and reported kidney problems. The doctors who were treating him revealed that the 94-year-old actor’s creatinine levels are rising, and he is going into renal failure.
Recently, their were news doing the rounds that the actor’s condition is deteriorating and has been put on ventilator, on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Dilip Kumar’s niece Shaheen Banu has confirmed that there is nothing to worry about the actor’s health. The actor could be discharged, but the doctors are waiting for his dehydration level to go down. In a statement to Hindustan Times, she said, “He is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for the monitoring, otherwise he is okay. He is sitting on a chair and having normal lunch. He is not on a ventilator.”[ecp code=”4″]
“He is absolutely conscious, he walks in the room and even in the corridor with a little bit of help. He doesn’t even look like a patient. He is 94 and his water levels have to be normal; we can’t monitor things at home, so we had to bring him to the hospital,” added Shaheen, the daughter of Saira’s brother Sultan Ahmed.
Shaheen also told the daily that the family was not planning to admit the actor in ICU, she said, “We had admitted him in a [normal] room but then we had to shift him to the ICU, so that IV fluid could be monitored better. He is being given IV fluid by the drip and he was not drinking enough water at home. We are just hoping that levels come to normal and he gets discharged soon.”
Well, his news has come as a relief to many of Dilip Kumar’s fans.
