In June 2012, Mahira started working in the series Shehr-e-Zaat opposite Mohib Mirza and Mikaal Zulfiqar, aired on Zindagi. She got fame for playing the role of Khirad Ehsan, a middle-class girl who marries with her wealthy cousin in the 2011 television blockbuster Humsafar opposite Fawad Afzal Khan. She is selective with her work and reviews a script closely before deciding to accept. Besides being a very hardworking actress, she is also known to be a perfectionist.
Mahira Khan got married to Pakistani television actor Ali Askari on 13 July 2007. She met Ali Askari at Indus TV studios during her vacations and fell in love.
