Bollywood actress Esha Gupta has recently receive a backlash for her comments on Arsenal’s Nigerian footballer Alexander Iwobi.
A week back, the actress had shared a screenshot of her WhatsApp chat with a friend on her Insta story, where the actress’ friend called Iwobi “gorilla faced” and said “evolution stopped for him.”
To this, Esha replied to her friend, “Haha… I don’t know why they don’t bench him more.”
Esha Gupta gets backlash for her racist remark
As soon as the actress posted this, netizens starts trolling the actress and calls her a racist.
However, soon the actress realised her mistake and deleted the story from her Instagram, but, fans fumed with anger over her racist comment.
However, now the actress has penned down an apology letter, hoping that Iwobi forgives here for her mistake. The actress wrote “I am extremely sorry for my ignorant action last Friday. Being an ardent fan of Arsenal for many years, I was deeply engrossed and caught up in the game. For this, I am deeply regretful. I cannot begin to imagine how much I have hurt your sentiments. Racism has absolutely no place in my heart, and I promise you, for whatever it’s worth, going forward this will never happen again. I hope the club can accept my humblest apology and give me the opportunity to make amends. I promise to be very responsible from here on.”
In a tweet shared on the micro-blogging site, Esha Gupta was seen expressing her racist remarks on the footballer on her Instagram story.
“Solves our winger issues. I can’t see that gorilla faced Iwobi running down the flank again. He’s so bad ya,” read the screenshot.

Esha even wrote a letter to the Arsenal Football Club, wherein she wrote, “I hope the club can accept my humblest apology and give me the opportunity to make amends. I promise to be very responsible from here on.”
